Shadowrocket Not Showing in the China App Store: Apple ID Region and App Availability

App Store listings vary by Apple ID country or region. Learn how availability works and how to check which store your account is using.

At a glance

If Shadowrocket doesn’t appear in the China mainland App Store, first check the account used for Media & Purchases and its Country/Region. Then distinguish between a search miss, store unavailability, and device incompatibility. This guide walks through the checks on iPhone and iPad and explains why changing your device region or Shadowrocket’s Global Routing won’t replace checking your account region.

No search result? Check the store region before drawing conclusions

The App Store doesn’t have one shared app catalog for every country or region. Apple ID is now called Apple Account, but this guide uses Apple ID because it’s still a common search term. The country or region set for the account under Media & Purchases determines which store is used for purchases—not whether your device interface is in Chinese or English. Search results in the China mainland store don’t tell you whether an app is available in other stores.

No search result alone doesn’t prove that an app has been removed from every store. Search terms, the store catalog, account status, and device restrictions can all affect what you see. Search the full name, Shadowrocket, and check the product page before drawing conclusions; don’t rely on the nickname to decide whether the app is available.

What you seeWhat to checkWhat you can’t conclude from it alone
Shadowrocket doesn’t appear in searchFull app name, account used for purchases, Country/RegionIt has been removed from every store
The product page says it’s unavailable in your regionThe current account’s store and the product page messageThe device’s network speed is too low
The product page opens, but you can’t buy the appSign-in status, payment details, purchase restrictions, and the specific errorThe app itself won’t run
The product page says the device isn’t compatibleThe Compatibility section and your device’s operating systemChanging the account region will definitely fix it

Search results, purchase eligibility, and device compatibility are three separate things. Check the App Store page for system requirements. Don’t assume that a search screenshot or the purchase button shown on someone else’s device means you can buy the app with your own account.

Check your purchase account and region on iPhone or iPad

First, confirm which account you’re using for App Store purchases. The Apple Account signed in at the top of Settings may differ from the one used for Media & Purchases, so checking your iCloud profile alone won’t confirm which App Store you’re using. The steps below use English menu names; layouts may vary slightly by system version, so follow what appears on your device.

  1. Open account settings

Open Settings and tap the Apple Account entry showing your name at the top. This confirms the account on your device; don’t sign out of the entire device account.

  2. Check the purchase account

Tap Media & Purchases and check which account is signed in. If you see a sign-in prompt, sign in to your own account normally before checking its store details.

  3. Open account details

Under Media & Purchases, select View Account. If prompted, complete the verification steps. Don’t confuse your device passcode with your account verification details.

  4. Check the region

Open Country/Region and note the current country or region. This is just a check—you don’t need to change your account details to troubleshoot a search result.

  5. Return to the App Store and check again

Go back to the App Store, tap the account icon to check which account is signed in, then search for the full name, Shadowrocket. Consider the search results alongside the product page rather than relying on suggested terms in the search box.

Use the product page to verify the app—not to infer your account’s store region

After checking your account, open the product page from our App Store purchase verification page. The App Store is the only place to get Shadowrocket. Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app sold as a one-time purchase. Check the App Store page for the current price, taxes, device compatibility, and purchase availability.

The product link on this site includes the /us/ path. That path identifies the store page the link points to; it doesn’t mean your account is set to that region for purchases. Being able to view the webpage also doesn’t guarantee that the App Store will let your account complete a transaction. Check the result in the App Store on your device.

If your device says the app is unavailable in your region, note the exact message and your Country/Region. Repeatedly changing search terms won’t change a store’s availability. Deleting your Shadowrocket configuration or reimporting an existing subscription won’t affect whether the product page is visible.

Global Routing affects connections, not your App Store region

Some users with Shadowrocket already installed try changing Proxy, Direct, or Config under Global Routing to alter their search results. These options control how Shadowrocket routes connections; they don’t change the country or region of your Apple Account or replace the App Store purchase eligibility check. The options below describe Shadowrocket’s routing modes only.

Config

Recommended

Connection behavior follows the rules in the active configuration. When checking your store region, leave a configuration that’s already working unchanged so you don’t mix up connection changes with account changes. The recommendation here is simply to keep your everyday configuration working as it is.

Best for: keeping an existing working rules configuration while checking account details

Direct

Connections handled by this mode go directly to their destinations. This can help you see whether a page loads over a direct connection, but it won’t change Country/Region to match your device’s current location.

Best for: distinguishing a page-loading issue from an account or store message

Proxy

Connections handled by this mode use a proxy route instead of being routed rule by rule according to Config. Even if your network exit changes, you still need to check which store your purchase account uses.

Best for: checking a connection route with a service you already use—not changing purchase eligibility

Takeaway: check the account when the store reports a region issue

If the App Store loads and clearly says the app isn’t available in your country or region, check Country/Region first. Investigate the connection route separately only if you’re seeing symptoms such as persistent loading or connection failures. Change one thing at a time.

Likewise, Settings → On Demand controls when connections start on demand; it doesn’t switch App Store regions. A subscription contains connection details for a service you already use; it doesn’t determine whether an app is listed in an App Store. Buying the app is not the same as buying a connection plan.

Check account requirements before changing your region

Don’t use Country/Region as a temporary troubleshooting switch. If you genuinely need to update your account details because of a change of residence or another reason, follow the requirements shown on your Apple Account page instead of switching regions repeatedly just to make one search result appear. Requirements vary depending on your balance, subscriptions, Family Sharing group, and pending orders; follow the prompts on your account page.

You don’t need to sign out of iCloud or reset your device just to check your region. If Shadowrocket is already installed, don’t delete it just to test whether it’s visible in the store: whether you can download it again depends on your current store, account, and device compatibility. Back up important configurations using the subscription and configuration management guide.

App Store availability FAQ

Why can’t I find it after changing my device region?

Check the purchase account under Settings → your name at the top → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region. General → Language & Region doesn’t change your App Store account’s region. There’s no need to keep switching your device language.

Can I buy it if I can see the product page in a browser?

Not necessarily. Open the App Store from the purchase verification page and check the signed-in account, purchase button, and any messages shown. If the app is unavailable in your region, check Country/Region. If you see a payment error, troubleshoot the payment issue instead.

I bought it before, but can’t find it now. What should I do?

First, check that Media & Purchases is signed in to the account you originally used. Then check your app purchase history on the App Store account page. A past purchase doesn’t guarantee you can download the app again now. If the purchase appears in your history but you can’t download it, keep the error message and don’t delete the app if it’s still installed.

Why can I see it on my iPhone but not my iPad? Could it be a region issue?

First, check whether both devices use the same Media & Purchases account. Then compare the product page’s Compatibility section with each device’s operating system. Different accounts or device incompatibility can produce different results. Check the App Store page for system requirements.

Does buying the app provide a working connection?

Your purchase gives you the right to use the app. For first-time setup, follow the guide to authorize the system connection, then use settings or a subscription from a service you already have. Manage your App Store account, app purchase, and connection service separately. This site doesn’t provide, sell, or recommend nodes or subscriptions.

After troubleshooting, you should be able to answer three separate questions: What is the purchase account’s Country/Region? What exact message does the App Store show for the product? Does your device meet the Compatibility requirements? Recording these details is more useful for finding the cause than repeatedly reinstalling the app or changing connection settings.
